Petwood Guide Book
Petwood - The remarkable story of a famous Lincolnshire hote.
PRODUCT INFO
Built in 1905 for a Baroness, Petwood House and its grounds have changed many times over the course of a century. Edward Mayor discusses the architecture and gardens in the context of the Arts and Crafts movement and traces the complex history of the house and its aristocratic owers, the Weigalls, who with the help of their friends the Flurys made into an hotel of great distinction. Many famous guests including Royalty have stayed at Petwood and between 1943-45 it became an Officers' Mess for several RAF Squadrons including the famous 617 squadon, the Dambusters. Lavishly illustrated with original photographs, this book celebrates one of Lincolnshire's favourite venues revealing new evidence and amusing stories about the people who made Petwood the richly atmospheric place it is today.
